Salt Spring Island

Our trip through BC, Canada also brought us to Salt Spring Island, a lovely island that's part of the Southern Gulf Islands which are very close to USA territory. Amongst the 10,5k inhabitants are my uncle Trevor and aunt Linda, the first family members we were to meet on our trip. It was nice of Catlin, my cousin, to also come over from Victoria. We had a great couple of days together!

About the photos: the first four were taken on the ferry from Tsawwassen terminal to Salt Spring's Long Harbour. After that there's the view from the lovely B&B we stayed in (Between The Covers, it comes highly recommended). The deer was spotted in Ruckle Park and came up pretty close to where we stood, there were maybe a couple of meters between us - it showed no real fear whatsoever.

The grapes and the hummingsbirds were on the B&B's territory, the birds flew very close to us while we were having breakfast there, an almost magical experience. Sorry I posted as much as 5 pictures with a hummingbird, I just love seeing them. And be happy I didn't post all the pictures I took of these little wonders! ;-)

The last two pictures are from Fulford Harbour, which is where we left for Victoria. But that's for another post...
